Gratitude may be a feeling like appreciation, and positive psychology research has found neurological reasons that numerous people can enjoy this common practice of expressing thanks for our lives, even in times of challenge and alter.
What is gratitude?
Many of us express our gratitude to those who helped you or gifted us. From a scientific point of view, however, gratitude is not just an action: it is also a positive emotion that serves a biological purpose.

Many are not commendable despite being the beneficiaries of the altruistic act. Can you think of a time when you felt it? Most people can. It is not a pleasant experience for anyone.
Gratitude deprives people of the emotional rewards of gratitude, and in this article, it is expected to cultivate a more admirable state.
Two stages of gratitude
According to Dr.Robert Emmons, the feeling of gratitude consists of two stages (2003):
First comes the goodness in one's life. In a state of gratitude, we tend to state 'yes' to everything in our life. We affirm that in all, life is good, and it has elements that are livable and rich in texture. By the presence of what has been accepted to us, and by the donor's effort to choose it, we have received something.
Second, gratitude is recognizing that some sources of this goodness are outside of ourselves. One can be grateful to other people, to animals and to the world, but not to oneself. At this stage, we recognize the good in our lives and those who thank for it, that is, who sacrificed so that we can be happy?
Two stages of gratitude encapsulate the recognition of good in our lives, and then how this goodness comes to us outwardly. Through this process, we recognize the fate of everything that makes up our lives - and makes ourselves better.

Why is gratitude needed?
Gratitude is a selfless act. Its acts are performed unconditionally, to show people that they are appreciated. "A gift that is freely given" is a way of understanding what those tasks are.
For example, if a person is unhappy and you write a note of appreciation to them, you are probably not asking for anything in return for this person; Instead, you are reminding them of their value and thanking them for their existence. At the moment, you are not waiting for a "return note" from this person.
Even when we do not expect a return, sometimes they still happen. Gratitude can be contagious, in a good way. In the previous example, perhaps when you are down, this person will also write you a note.
Two processes can affect gratitude here.
1. Catharsis
Catharsis is a process in which a person releases strong emotions.
For example, after a stressful or traumatic event, crying provides a means for such a strong release, rendering the catheter of activity. Catharsis works with gratitude.

2. Reciprocity
Reciprocity, as a concept from social psychology, is about the exchange of actions.
In this case, it is about the exchange of positive emotions. When a person acts as an act of gratitude for another person, that person may, in turn, be motivated to do some favor for the former person or to continue to do favors for a stranger.
Imagine coffee or a meal with a friend, and they politely demand to pay for the outing. You can back-and-forth about splitting the bill, but should they insist, you are likely to feel grateful, and have an extended duty that the next meal is "your treat".
In short, this is exactly how reciprocity works.
Apply it in your life
This very evening, before bedtime, think about the positive things that happened during the day. Do this every night for a moment. Consider a gratitude journal as well.
For those struggling with depression or anxiety, it can also decide the beginning of a day: Before getting out of bed, consider three things - however small - that they are grateful for. Even on a really difficult day, do it to yourself, even if your inner voice is one of satire: just three things.
If you have children, take a moment with them before bedtime to ask them to think about themselves. Set a good example by sharing what you are grateful for because it shows children the importance of practice.
If you feel that you have neglected to thank someone in your life, perhaps write them a letter expressing your gratitude. If possible distribute it in person. Who knows what effect it will have on both your days and life.
All these actions, however, help to shape the culture of gratitude. When people express gratitude to each other, it creates a desire for reciprocity and is a positive chain reaction to encourage in any family, workplace, city, and society.
